London saw a record rise in e-bike and e-scooter fires in 2025, with firefighters attending 206 incidents across the capital, an average of 17 a month. Tragically, two people lost their lives, bringing the total number of fatalities from these fires since 2023 to five.

Around 83% of incidents involved e-bikes, with the highest number of fires occurring in Lewisham, Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Lambeth, and Westminster. Many of these fires caused severe damage to homes and resulted in injuries, highlighting the urgent need for improved awareness and safer charging practices.
