In the early hours of Monday 26 January, a fire broke out on the rooftop of a mixed-use building in Kensington. London Fire Brigade mobilised 12 fire engines and around 80 firefighters after confirming the rooftop area was alight. Approximately 40 people evacuated safely before crews arrived, and no injuries were reported.
Firefighters used a 32-metre turntable ladder to support operations and brought the blaze under control by around 3.30am, remaining on site to damp down hotspots. The fire destroyed a plant room on the roof.
Both Kensington & Chelsea Council and the venue expressed gratitude to LFB for their rapid response, confirming that safety checks are underway. The fire’s cause is currently under investigation.
